Hi all,

For a few months my Adsense stats have been pretty steady with eCPM being pretty consistent for weekdays and weekend but on Friday 22nd July my eCPM dropped by about 15%. The weekend was pretty average eCPM for the weekend but then Monday 25th July was the lowest eCPM I have experienced for a long time (maybe even ever) with eCPM dropping by over 25% of the average. Today is also following in a similar pattern.

This drop cannot be accounted for by decreasing CTR as, if anything, my CTR is up by a little.

I have also not noticed any major changes in the kind of ads being served. I understand it is probably due to lower paying advertiser bids but not sure as things have been pretty consistent for about 4-5 months now.

Anyone else experiencing anything similar?

Regards

Some possibilities:

- End of the month, which is a time when many advertisers already run out of advertising monies and stop their campaigns.
- Further exacerbated by the fact that it is summer and advertisers are probably taking a break from Adwords (how dare they!).
- For many websites, summer is the time when traffic slows down (yes I know, we should have prepared for it).

My editorial travel site's lowest daily eCPM this month was ahead of the average for June, and the overall July eCPM has been up 19% over June and up 53% over May. Normally I'd expect July to be a little slower than May or June, since I often have a slight lull during the peak summer vacation months before the fall travel-planning season begins. So why the jump? I'm guessing that site-targeted CPM ads may be one reason.

No, no, no. We should be baffled, go out and sit in the sun to replenish vitamin D.
