Something interesting I just noticed and had a chuckle over... Flickr.com, 'A Yahoo! Company' runs Google Adsense ads.

I would have thought it would make more sense to run their own overture advertisements on subsidiary web sites.

That's a clear flag for us not to wait for yahoo contextual ad program.

sorry... can you explain that? Who's waiting for yahoo, other than banned adsense people or others who feel they've been smartpriced out of the equation?

Free enterprise levels the playing field and having multiple players does so even more. That's why I'm anxious for yahoo, competetion is good. I won't give up google though. I'll go to yahoo forums and see how it plays out first.. much the same as what I'm doing here...

What's funnier is that Yahoo also advertises on Google? Enter yahoo web hosting on Google and you will see their ad.

Guess I don't see anything funny or odd about any of it.

a) The best way to understand AdSense and AdWords is to use it and see how it works

b) Google has a large audience and Yahoo should advertise there for the exposure

I don't see that meaning.

On the contrary, if Yahoo is considering starting something similar to Adsense, doesn't it make sense for them to get experience with such a program from the publisher's perspective?

If you look closer and hit reload a few times, you will actually see that Flickr is rotating between AdSense, Yahoo ads and no ads.

To me, that tells me they are testing CTR, relevancy and earnings between the two.

Flickr has been running Yahoo ads for several months now. AdSense has been running on the site since before Yahoo bought it.

Well, if the ads I see on FLickr are any indication of what Yahoo can do vs. Google, the boys at the 'plex better strap themselves in for a wild ride to come. Yahoo's ads were about all sorts of photo related topics and all Google seemed to show was "blog blog blog..."

Maybe Yahoo created a site that isn't well targetted by Google to inflate their own ego! ;)
