Pricing in these two models seems is difficult to compare.
I've been running Adlinks for a couple months now. On channels where I have both Adlinks and regular ads on the same pages the EPC and eCPM for the two models is hard to compare or understand.
On some pages Adlinks consistently show much higher epc and ecpm.
On other pages it's the reverse.
And on some pages the higher paying units seem to rotate randomly.
I'm interested opinions on this and in what other are seeing on their sites.
Our other ad formats -- large rectangle at the top of the article, large rectangle at the bottom of the article, and skyscraper -- all outperform Adlinks by a sizeable margin in terms of revenue. The eCPM of Adlinks for us is only 1/3 of our average page eCPM, and 1/3 also of our large rectangle's eCPM.
It does add to the bottomline, definitely lower than I was expecting based on some enthusiastic posts here. As always, what may work for one person may not necessarily work for the others.
So you won't be confused as to the pricing of adlinks vs. ad blocks, why not create a separate channel for it so you can really determine how it performs?
In any given section of my site Adlinks has a channel, and the regular ads have a different channel.
What I don't understand is why the difference in performance exisits at all, and why one type does better than the other consistently in some sections and why which type does better seems to fluctuate in other sections of my site.
