adwords: no minimum bid anymore -> drop in revenue expected?

As they lower the requirements on the advertiser, publishers will pay ,,,

I read google is getting rid of the .05 minimum bid requirement on the adwords side:

This seems to open even more potential for ridiculously low priced clicks. Even from the 0.05 often not even a full 0.01 would remain (as reported often).

From a publishers point of view a minimum payout (or show alternate ads) would be extremely welcome to counter the crowd that's aiming for as many as possible hits without caring for targeting or visitor experience.

I'm afraid the short term profitability will suffer once again. And the long term ability to have returning visitors won't get better either due to even more crappy ads.

Minimum bid amounts adjustable by the publishers, please!
