I know that using the filter may have adverse effects, but I fail to see how these scrapers (even the ad says "scraper" before you go there) are helping my bottom line earnings.
So my general question is, does playing the "whack-a-mole" game with the scrapers advertising for traffic help the bottom line (or other) figures?
Is there a time delay between adding a url to the list, and it no longer appearing on the site?
Lastly, what format is best to ban all ads relating to [scraper-sam.com?...] Do you have to put the www in front? What if the actual url is something like [help.Scraper-Sam.com...]
Thanks
It can't hurt your earnings if you are whacking ads that don't interest your visitors.
You bring up an interesting thought regarding the URL's.
It states in the help section to block all pages from that group by simply typing in the main domain link.
It appears that the advertisers are putting long encryption-like extensions on, so I always back it up to their main url.....not sure if it's working out yet.
Having just dumped a few directories and scrapers I now have much better targetted ads, and have seen an immediate jump in epc. I know that it's only been an hour, and that is *way* too short a time to make any judgement.
I *thought* Google were meant to target the highest paying ads. Maybe they bid high, but smartpricing decides that any click generated is only worth a pittance as they are scrapers/directories?
Hopefully, now I can see much better targetted ads, that will be good for the bottom line $ figure.
The next few days should be interesting, and I'll certainly be playing "Whack-a-mole" for a while :)
