hey gang,

I am considering launching a new article based site and to attract writers I plan on allowing them the opportunity to run adsense ads on the articles they write. I am going to attempt to set it up so that 75% of the time their ads will be shown while the other 25% my ads would be shown.

I was curious if I run any risk to my own adsense account if there is some bad behavior by one of the authors like clicking their own ads. If Adsense detects they are doing something wrong will they ban that authors account or will they ban the entire domain? I obviously don't want my entire site banned, but I want to give the writers the opportunity to make a few bucks off of their work.

I do know that you can only have one publisher per page so I won't have any problems there.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'd set it up with an Ad server. You can then weigh the ads 75/25 and not worry about your account. The only problem you may have is with Google and being allowed to run ads on a different domain.

If however you run just your ads and track by channel then divide the profits, you could have an issue with someone clicking on ads to make money.

At the end of the day most people are honest but you do get bad apples.

ummm.... yeah, you might want to check on that one... or better yet just go ahead and do it... what the hell, huh?

You already know the answer to the question or you wouldn't have asked it. Not only that, you're putting ALL participating accounts at risk, do you have liability insurance? I sure as heck wouldn't want to be in your shoes, not even just for a fitting.

AT A MINIMUM - If you enter in such an arrangement, I would make each participant sign an agreeement that they have read and agree to abide by all the AdSense terms and conditions and they are solely responsible for any and all damages that arise from any actions on their part to violate the AdSense T&C for you and all participating publishers.

Make it look nasty, if they don't sign then you know you have a bad egg, good riddance.

willmullis, do you want the ultimate hassle-free solution?

Put a very BIG link back to their own website above and below the articles. That way you're safe, they're safe and everyone is happy!

How is what I am trying to do any different than what "Name Pros" and many of the other big forums out there are doing? They have a system set up so that when you make new topics, that topic will display your adsense ad a certain percentage of the time. I just changed the idea to do it on an article site instead of a forum.

I didn't think there was an issue with putting adsense on more than one domain, from what I understand you could put the code in as many places as you had permission to do so.

I do wish that adsense allowed you to have more than one account because I would love to have a seperate account for this. I'm actually trying to provide writers a service that will allow them to showcase their articles while making a few extra bucks in the process. It's a shame that I have to feel paranoid about getting my account suspended for doing so.
