I just launched Adsense

Should I not get too excited?

I finally put adsense on one of my sites. This is the first time I've ever monetized any of my sites. I've been working at this web stuff for several years, but I have really got my act down just this past year.

So, my first half-day yielded around $3 and my next full day was almost $7. Most of it coming from one AdLinks unit on my home page. Will this go down soon because of smart pricing? Or, will it go up since everyone is saying ad money has dried up at the end of the month/pre-holiday. Can I make any predictions from my earnings so far?

It is way too early to make any predictions - it's nice though, isn't it? :)

It's probably going to take at least a month before you can even begin to get a sense of how adsense will for for any given site.

How often Smart Pricing is adjusted is anyones guess. I've never seen any credible statements about that.

The holiday/weekend slumps don't affect everyone equally. A lot of that depends on the type of site, type of visitors, where your visitors are from, etc.

One thing about Adsense is that there are so many variables it's hard to come up with anything that affects everyone the same way.

I seem to have a daily smart pricing effect, meaning as the day goes on my cpc goes down. I seem to get more per click at 10 am thatn i do at 10 pm. But then the next day at 10 am its back to higher cpc.

I found that adlinks did not work for me so I use a mix of the others.
Congrats.

That's probably just the stats updating ar different times. Impressions, Clicks, CTR, eCPM, and Earnings do not always update at the same time.

The result looks like what you are seeing.

In the past it has taken as much as 48 hours a day ends before all stats are fully updated for that day.

Most often they are fully settled with a few hours after the day ends.

MediaSpree-
That may also be because of the way AdWords works. A lot of people who buy AdWrods have a daily budget and plow through all of their funds early in the day - driving up CPCs in the morning. I've found that when you're buying, you can usually get lower CPCs in the afternoon. It would make sense that AdSense Publishers would see the same thing on the publishing side then.

I guess I'll just have to be patient, add content and build more links. It seems like it boils down to how many pages you have and how much traffic you have. It seems too simple! I'll have to try adding a normal ad block and see which performs better. I like how the AdLinks units are very low profile. My page is pretty uncluttered and I like it that way.
