Hi we might be getting some image based banners onsite (adverts other than adsense) that have images and as far as I understand we cannot show image ads using Adsense anymore?

Our adsense code has the following line on it:

google_ad_type = "text_image";

However there is a preference section as well now (!): "Ad type Preference" in the "My Account" section.

It also says : "You may override your ad preference on a page-by-page basis, by selecting the desired Ad Type option in your Ad layout code page."

So that means we'd have to manually change the code to show only text correct?

Any tips would be appreciated, as well as the TOS issue. Thanks! -born2run

I checked the difference in code when I selected "text only ads" and it shows the following line that is different:

google_ad_type = "text";

So changing just this line should give us text only ads right?

although others have suggested it is OK, I wouldn't manually changes the adsense code (since they specifically ask you not to).

You can get text only ads by changing your account settings to only accept textads on your site.

That's the way my account is set and I've never seen a text ad.

You can also get text only ads when getting the ad code from the adsense control panel by selecting text only ads on the ad code generation page.
