I am using the plesk control panel on a unix server. My homepage ___.com goes automatically to ___.com/index.html

Google told me that there is a javascript forwarding visitors to ___.com/index.html

As a result the adsense on my homepage displays 'javascript' ads.

How can I change my homepage to ___.com and not ___.com/index.html

This is a big problem for me and any suggestions would be appreciated.

There are two possible reasons why there is a javascript redirection from your site to index.html. Either you installed it yourself, or your hosting company did.

If you did the installation, remove it. If the hosting company installed it, search another hosting company. You are paying for the hosting service, so you should be in full control of what people are seeing when they surf to yourdomain.com. Don't let some third party be in control of the data that visitors receive when they visit your site. Are you sure it is a simple redirect, or did the hosting company put some nasty code in it for whatever purpose they might like?

A quality host uses a 301 redirect, not javascript.

Actually I just recently moved the site onto a dedicated server. That's when the problem started.

I'm not quite sure how I should be naming my homepage and where I should be putting it on the server.
