New custom ad styles for "big" publishers?

Just noticed an ad style that I've never seen before. Observations:

  • Rectangular (663x81)
  • 4 ads per unit
  • Blue title bg, border and link text (#225577). Pretty sure that this could be customized for big publishes as well. Adding this information just in case.
  • Body and URL text uses Arial 9pt font.
  • Titled "ADVERTISER LINKS" and does not link to Google. Just plain text. Much like "Sponsored Links" that are commonly used.
  • Body text is not linked. As opposed to before when the whole ad was one link.
  • Ad does not use JavaScript to cover up the destination URL (go to www.example.com). Openly links to pagead2.googlesyndication.com.

Has anyone seen this before and what is this all about?

I've seen premium publishers have all types of weird ad styles/colors/ and formats.

I guess if you can deliver the volume, you can get the perks.

I've seen many different ones too, but they all seem to be deriving from the same thing. This one just looks too odd. Maybe it's just my imagination :)

I saw something like that today while looking online for a car rental. Don't know what it means though, sorry can't help.

Yes, it is a premium publisher perk, not available to the regular publishers.
