Where can I get advice as to adsence and page design?

placement of adds on index page and index page content...

One of the worst pages for getting adsence hits is my index page.

One reason is I think it covers such a diverse range of topics, reflecting the site itself, that the adds displayed are just not interesting.

For example the only add in my 3 add pane is for George Lopez CDs & DVDs, I don't even know who the guy is, and am not even interested enough to click on the link myself.

Until now I have just ignored its poor showing, so far this month from 2,254 add unit impressions, I got 13 clicks, it pays far worse than other pages.

However do I have to sacrifice good adds in order to get people into my site, or can I find a compromise where my site gets promoted and the index page gets good adverts?

To understand my dilemma better, I really need to give a link to my site, which i know is not allowed, so is there a place where I can get some ideas from people?

That's pretty much what I saw on my site.

I finally just gave up and took Adsense off my home page, and even some of my second level pages that had the same problem.

I have spent the afternoon working on the site, there seem to be few adverts for the keywords of fun and humor. Which means my index adds are pretty crummy and 3rd rate.

As a result I have tried to minimise those words and increase the frequency of words that do have more adverts.

This seems to be a start in the right direction, tweaking the text to attract better adverts.

Take Adsense off your non-performing pages and enjoy the difference.

Buy yourself a prime rib dinner with the extra income your site makes from other(performing) pages.
