I'm beginning to believe google is lowering its payouts like the government raises gas prices. I've heard of folks that took the ads off their site (completely), then put them back on only to get significantly reduced returns.
I'm not sure how that would be proof or even a clue that Google is lowering payouts? A lot can change when you take ads of your site for a period of time and put them back on.
Advertisers change, bid amounts change for the content network, smartpricing can kick in for some.
I started about a month or two ago and I have never got anything more than a nickel a click.
There are some website themes that only payout that much. There are also certain website types that seem to get smartpriced to lower payouts.
In my case, my payouts seem to be steady, if not rising. May was my best month in 2 years and June is looking to be even better.
I'm assuming that advertisers are getting good returns from their ads showing on my sites, since I have a lot of advertisers that contact me directly about getting their ads shown (not necessarily adwords advertisers, but businesses in my industry).
But to answer the original question:
Did anyone know that whether there is a different of payout rate for 120 and 160 adlinks? What i mean is some ads dont show up when using 120 but most will show up using 160. I just changed from 120 to 160 and found that payout decreases.
The 160 adlinks (and adunits) can show more and, and unless you have some type of tracking in place, it's hard to tell which ad a user is clicking on.
So if in your first test the user clicked on the top ad, the payout might have been higher. In the second test, if the user saw 5 ads and the last ad interested them more and they clicked on that one, then that payout would be less because the advertiser didn't bid as much as the one that shows at the top.
I'd strongly advise people testing AdLinks to try more than one format to see which work best.
