I have never seen anything as absurd as this:

An ad on my site for spell checking software keeps showing up which reads
"Comprehensive Legal/Medical Spell Chekers"

So, obviously they do not (a)use their own software, or (b)they do, and it is not worth the bother for visitors to click on the ad and find out more as their product doesn't cut it.

It is sad that Google doesn't give us more say in controlling who advertises on our sites. The ad filter doesn't go far enough. Take for example the ad above, not only is it a turn-off for my visitors, it probably pays 2 cents a click on top of it -- insult added to injury...

I had Ghost Hunting ads once on my medical sites. But hey, 99% perfectly matched ads is ok by me. Imagine if everything is like was 99% correct!

ads for ghost hunting! funny like hell...

That raises another issue which is related to the degree of control publishers have over the ads:
perfect matching vs. partial matching in the overall algorithm.

Ha, on my teenager birthday gifts ideas page, Adsense had a link to FUNERAL FLOWERS. HA HA, but that was gone soon. I agree, 99% of the ads are great matches. If I absolutely cannot get the Adsense ad to reflect the items on my page, and this almost never happens, then I just delete it and put the Adsense Google search box instead. That helps. This prob is extremely rare, tho, and I have about 1000 pages running Adsense. I am happy with the links provided.
