Optimizing for Y and MSN

Maybe a good reason after all

Having all my sites built over the last 16 months in the sandbox to this day, I've learned to play the hand I was dealt and focus on organic traffic from Y and MSN and my link partners. A thought occurred to me this week while watching everyone here who was getting most of their traffic from Google and were obliterated by Bourbon. Not getting more than a tiny % of my referrals from Google over the last year+ has made me work that much harder to get more quality content up so I could eek out a living from the comparatively lower Y and MSN traffic. The less I thought about Google SERPs, the more money I started making. Y and MSN don't mess with all the nonsense about age filters and sandboxes and blah blah blah.

Then another thought occurred to me over the long holiday weekend. When my sites finally do get out of Google "jail," CHA-CHING! It warms the cockles of my heart, I tell ya, to ponder the coming riches. OK, that was over the top, but it's a thread of hope to cling to in these drunken Bourbon days, right?

Keep going, add content, then add some more, think first and foremost about your visitors' needs, and dream of the days ahead when the Google Fairy leaves a quarter under your pillow for all the teeth she knocked out with that bottle of Bourbon. ;-)

<edit>Ack, it just occurred to me that I put this in the AdSense forum when it more properly belongs elsewhere. Forgive me! Move it if you must!</edit>

One day, Google will send you a bunch of visitors and you will see really large checks. Then you'll buy a new car and make some travel plans and so on.

Once you reach the new level of life, you will remember (smiling) the days when you was living with a few dollars/traffic.

Suddenly, the Niagara update will cut your income in a 95% and then...
