Well, I like to know one thing.

A News website that publish local news along with some world news(not as much as local news) can expect how much CTR?

Say, the news website get 8-10 thousands visitors a day and 700-800 Unique visitors a day.

Whats the possible CTR all you experienced publishers think?

And, what would be the least amount you can expect
from a news website with that category? and with such traffic?

Hope you guys can give me some good idea and info on this.

Thanks.

Can't really say what CTR you will get. Depends on too many variables. It's best to try them for 72 hours (longer then better) and find out yourself.

I agree with ShunT, its something you just have to try.

Good luck and have fun.

The more targeted the news is, the better.

If you are going for readers from a particular area, your best bet is going to be to go for news that will appeal most strongly to them. World news can work, but you have to find ways to connect it to the local area. In other words, if something major happens in Region X, and then something similar happens in, say, Paraguay, then you can work that in there.

Challenge: make sure you mention your region/city enough so that the ads are targeted correctly. That probably means putting it in the title and high in the text (i.e. Region X News: New Bridge to Cost $20 Million) so that you're less likely to get links about bridges and more likely to get local area links. Note that regions that have more tourism should be more responsive. Should being the operative word, of course.

Good luck with your project.

Hi KiShOrE,

Have you considered getting local advertisers for that site? I mean instead of going through ad networks you could deal with them directly.

I'm interested in the subject as I'm playing with the idea of starting a local news site, too.
