Only two? I've been in it since Jan '04 - must have joined only 7 odd months after it started then.

I honestly thought adsense had been around longer than two years.

pfft - press release, i don't remember a press release but here is the original thread at WebmasterWorld where i believe it was first brought up in the AdWords forum. For starters they offered free clicks to advertisers .... and made 'claims' that roi for adsense was equivelant to search based on their 'testing'.
