Attacks on our site

Our content is being comprimised due to attacks on our site

Our site has recently come under attack from a rival of similar size. They are defaming us in public arenas and alleging our adsense content is equivalent to popup ads. What can we do about these lies? I am in a strange position.. our revenue has gone up since the controversy began, should I try to reason with these flamers or egg them on to increase our profile? there's meant to be no such thing as bad publicity, so does idiots vehemently attacking our site help it or hurt it?

I would stay away from an all out war especially if you rely on asdense for your site's revenue. Google doesn't care if fraudlualnt clicks are caused by you or by your competitors, if this thing escalates it could cause you to lose adsense all together.

Why would you care about what your competitor say about your website.You should just try to play your game safe and according to rules.Write to google when ever you feel some click attack is there and every thing would be fine since most of competitors would try to disturb your concentration for few days ...otherwise there own work would be disturned and ultimately you will be in profit

If you truly believe that you have a decent website and reliable information, don't worry about what others say. The public will judge you based on your site and it's content, not what others say.

Well,
It's all died down now, and you guys were right,
There si no point going down to his level, which he is trying to do,

We threatened legal action, and he has since backed down, and releaized his error,

Members from his site, are now members of ours, and our adsense has gone through the roof,
This also ties ito a new seo marketing which has us ranked well for our keywords, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9th position, on our best keyword,

Our members have supported us, and they don't want to see a fighting match ost of all,

Our site is built on pure passion for the topic, and is collaborated with many mambers of the board, who love the site,
