Type of Sites

I was wondering how big a site needs to be and what type of sites are used to make profit from adsense.

I've heard of one-page sites that earn in AdSense, and sites with many thousands of pages.

My particular site is about 200 pages, fewer than half of which have AdSense code on them. It's a niche content site...

Just about any site will pay its bills. Significant profit is not always so easy.

How do most people that build multiple sites get their inspiration as to the subject of the site? I'm sure it helps to find something you are interested in or an expert at, but what if your target is money first and interest last. There is probably a topic on this already, and probably should have searched first.
