Hi all,

I want to help the people that have phpbb forums in making their forums receive ads that are more relevant. The reason for doing this is I had a lot of hard times trying to accomplish this and never found a complete tutorial that would show me easy steps.

First, there is not way around it; you must do a little moding.

I recommend these steps.

1- I found that the name of the folder where you install phpbb is very important. Lets say you have a forum about widget, name that folder where you install phpbb widget, for example [mysite.com...] is incredible how accurate the ads relevant to my site started to appear once I did this change on my board, before I use the folder /phpbb/ and I got a bunch of php host ect.. Type of ads. This work great for me, I guess if you have a board about different subjects this wouldn't be a good idea, but if your forums is about a spesific subject this the way to go.

2-Change the logo power by phpbb on the footer of your forums to a gif or jpg. Jut make a small image saying power by phpbb with your favorite image creator, upload it to your server then open the overall_footer.tpl look for the logo and remove it and use the image there instead.

3-Make your forum search engine friendly, the best mod I found was this one explain in the phpbb topic.
[phpbb.com...]

4-Now this more of a tip than help to make your ads more relevant. Maybe might be different in some sites, but my revenue triple once I inserted the ads right after the first post of each topic. You heard right triple, so I now it works.
[phpbb.com...]

This just a little contribution to this great site that has help me a lot, a way to say thank you.
