One Year's Worth Of Adsense Payments

Analysis of April 2004 to March 2005 % Increases

When I first started Adsense more than a year ago, like many others I considered that if it were to pay for my hosting and a little bit more, then I would just leave it at that.

Over the ensuing months our sites became firmly lodged at #1 in Google and didn't do too badly in Yahoo and MSN either and the earnings increased, therefore today I thought I'd have a look at what we had actually achieved.

I am not showing the base starting figure since it is immaterial, those shown are the actual percentage increases month on month:

As you can see I really started to get interested in Adsenese promotion much more last August/September and have been constantly modifying and improving presentation since then.

The big March jump was when I decided to go completely 100% site wide with all sites under our control plus Ad Links starting.

Has anyone else any figures with which to compare?

Needless to say I would be very happy if I were to get another 800% increase over the next 12 months however this will be a nigh impossibility owing to the nature of my widget industry!

In this period traffic increased approximately 300%.

Not exact figures, but my earnings have increased every month since November of 2004.

Dec 2004: +19%
Jan 2005: +103%
Feb 2005: +48%
March 2005:+28%
April (thru yesterday):+71%

April should end up being a 100%+ increase.

Some people may note that I have complained a lot lately despite these increases. The reason I have been complaining is because since mid-April, after I added some new pages and content and experienced a very healthy increase in all metrics, my stats have dropped precipitously since the 20th, and it basically pi$$ed me off. I've made some adjustments today and things are improving.

The argument, that G knows best, I don't buy into. I KNOW BEST. Just the way I am.

So, to those who think I'm a whiner (you know who you are), I am not complaining because I'm lazy, stupid or self-pitying. I complain because I know what I'm worth and what my traffic is worth. I do have other advertisers besides adsense.

Approximate numbers.
Impressions up 38%
Income up 102%

The biggest jumps in income, about equal, came from switching from a 468x60 format to a 300x250 format on most of my pages, and adding a relatively few more content pages, as opposed to photo gallery pages.

I'm not getting rich at this, but a lot of folks in the USA live on less.
