How does Adsense determine Content and send Ads?

What are the factors that trigger Adsense Ads?

Hello everybody,

Can you share some thoughts on this one:
We are adding new content pages that relate to a specific topic. On those pages the appropriate keywords will appear often in the text itself. In addition, what can we do to make sure Adsense sends us only related ads? Is it wise to create a subdomain (keyword.domain.com) or even better a subdomain with directories like this : keyword.domain.com/keyword1 ; keyword.domain.com/keyword2 etc?
Thanks in advance.

OK, so does anyone have any thoughts on this? Or can you point me to another thread here on webmasterworld? Thanks

Use general keyword optimization techniques mentioned all over here:
Keywords in title
H1 Tag
H2 Tag
First sentence and sporadically throughout.

I wouldn't go so far as to create subdomains/pages based on keyword/keyword - that is too tacky and is likely why I do it :)

On those pages the appropriate keywords will appear often in the text itself.

You shouldn't need to do any more than that. My only suggestion is that you spot check the pages and make sure there's no off-topic phrasing that the AdSense bot is picking up on. Someone wrote an article for my site and used a metaphor about baking a cake, which generated ads for cake recipes! I removed the metaphor--on-topic ads.

Also put the main keyword in bold and if you can also put it in underline and Italics text.
