We had a nasty network outage today for almost 8 hours before the site came back.

Since the site came back the CPM is double what it normally is but the CTR is about the same.

I was actually wondering if Google was feeling sorry for me and trying to help me catch up to my regular daily rate, I'm sure that's not the case, but it's VERY ODD to see the CPM double when it was normal before the outage earlier today.

Maybe you are sucking the money mainly from a few high paying advertisers' pockets and their budget is reached daily. Having an outage of several hours decreases the number of ad impressions, but their daily budget stays the same. So instead of showing low paying ads the second part of the day, you may now have high paying ads the whole day instead.

Solution: get your advertisers increase their daily budget :)
