Assuming you only run 2 Ads per page -

Why would you run a 2nd Ad unit at what we know is a greatly reduced EPC --- vs. replacing ALL 2nd Ad units with an AdLink?

(In my limited testing the Adlinks in spot #2 seem to increase revenue)

Any comments?
anything negative about doing this?

My experience with Ad Links was not positive.

We have now removed them.

Found that CTR went up on the regular ads at a higher return.

Our situation may not be the norm.

You have to try it on your site to find out for sure - now that there are real-time stats its easy enough to test.

It worked wonders for us but many others have found it not working for them. Test, test, test. The only way to be sure.

I'm going to give it a go... my original 2nd Adsense placement was right at the bottom of the page, attracting a CTR of less than 1% (the other is around 20-25%). I've got rid of that and put a Adlinks component on the top left hand corner under the logo, to see if that makes any difference.

To be honest, I feel a little 'devious' about doing it as I feel it looks too much like my navigation links, but hey, we'll see what happens next...

We've just put adlinks on all our pages along with the one adsense unit that was already there. Will report back on success level. Am I right in thinking that page impressions will now double as a result?

i have removed adlinks from my pages. My result with them was not even half as good (paying) as the normal adsense block

My second ad unit has a much better EPC and CTR then my first ad unit.

Ad Links experiment, it works well on some of my pages/websites, but not well on others. Reduced the overall income.

Seems to be working here. Comparing the daily average earnings from the month prior to adding AdLinks and the time since, it's up 45%.

However the AdLinks unit has negatively impacted other AdSense units and currently accounts for 60% of all earnings. But since things are generally UP, I'm not complaining.

Freedom: "My second ad unit has a much better EPC and CTR then my first ad unit."

Anyone else seeing this?

I didn't think it was possilbe as far as EPC goes (of course CTR can be higher anywhere on the page?

Yes, I know howiejs, it's wierd but that's what's happening on one particular site. Not true for all of my sites, but true with one of my main ones.
