Did Adsense change your life?

Does adsense pay or does it improve pagerank?

I'm interested in hearing real life experiences of Adsense, whether it really does generate revenue or if it is simply another cog in the machine to gain higher serps or PR?

Your candid views are appreciated.

I wrote some weeks ago about an article in a German AdSens forum.

He wrote 234% CTR, because all his friends...

I wrote him, he should inform Google about it.

He did and wrote some days later, that Google wrote him back, that they will pay him only for the valid clicks.

My page layout was menu bar to the left, adsense next to it with the text of the paragraph wrapping round the right/bottom of the ads.

The menu applet I was using would expand outwards, obscuring the adverts. This obscuring was against the TOS.

The page layout is still the same, but I now have a menu applet that stays within the allocated space, and doesn't expand outwards over the ads.

Just to clarify, are you talking about a nav bar that shoots out opening more options.

So when a visitor mouses over, the nav bar obscures the adsense which contravenes the TOS.

I've just got a pretty quick response back from someone at Google following my grovelling apology for clicking onto an ad. She graciously pointed me to the adsense preview tool, and thanked me for the confession.

Yes, exactly. It's gone now - replaced by a different nav bar that doesn't shoot outwards.

As this is my second day with asdsense, the fog is beginning to clear.

The set up is as easy as it gets and I'm very pleased to see it start earning money almost immediately.

The question is, do I tweak it, fiddle about try to fix what isn't broken or monitor the results and await the snowball effect.

What's the next move?
