I can't nail this one for sure as I have been adding too much new content for my stats to be relevant.

but...

It looks like my CTR is dropping but my earnings per click is rising - end result is more total revenue. Looks a little like strategy rather than coincidence

Anyone else?

We heard that they are playing with new algos - maybe they are running some kind of revenue maximising algo on an individual account basis.

Not bothered as long as that last column keeps going up :)

It's probably just normal varation. Most of us who've been using AdSense for a while have experienced short-term ups and downs in CTR, revenues, and so forth, but things tend to average out in the long run.

Remember that your CTR and revenues will be determined, in large part, by two factors: who's advertising, and supply and demand (which will affect bids). For example, if you've got a blue-widgets site and BlueWidgets.com is advertising, you'll probably see a higher clickthrough rate than you would if the BlueWidgets.com bid manager had taken a long weekend vacation. And if the season for widgets is over or all the widgets bid managers are watching the World Cup or the Super Bowl on TV, bids (and publisher revenues) will tend to fall.

My CTR has dropped (7 day moving average) markedly, CPC has been remarkably steady (again 7 day moving average) since the start...

...happily more impressions has meant stadily rising income, even with falling CTR

That is a good point that EFV makes about falling CTR can be due to less relevant ads, hadn't thought of that before.

...and just to show we are not the only ones with the CTR problem

EPV - you make a good point, but I don't think it applies in my case - could be wrong, obviously, too many variables I can't control.

I have generating around 1 million page view a month, and the dip in CTR has been significant and abrupt - well outside statistical variation, as has the increase in revenue per click.

My sites are not showing any increased number of PSAs as far as I can see. Unfortuntely, as there are over 18k pages involved I can't really say for sure.

I have noticed a significant change in my CTR this month over last, it has risen. And earnings have increased as well. Impressions, however, have remained fairly static, with just the normal day-to-day fluctuations and the gradual increase in traffic.

Something I did do, is that I changed many of the banners from the Google default colored 468 x 60 Banner to 728 x 90 Leaderboard with my own color scheme. This is the only thing I can think of that has caused my CTR to increase, since I haven't added any additional pages or impressions.

happily more impressions has meant steadily rising income

Thats the key to all adsense problems.

Every time I see something that worries me, I go post up a whole load more pages and everything sorts itself out ;)
