I was just wondering if I could add these words on my forums.

"Ad-financed 1-Click Webhosting + Webspace

RapidShare is an absolutely free web-hosting service for providing webspace on our servers without the need to sign-up.
The whole web-service is ad-financed."

I've seen these text on <snip> and <snip>
It's questionable. What do you all think?

The words on <snip> imply that the users should pay for the service by clicking on the ads.

I would not risk it.

Read the posts about canceled AdSense accounts for forums. Without writing anything, there is a chance, that somebody wants to help by clicking.

hardly anyone is clicking on the ads on my forum. I wonder why the 2 mentioned companies are still not banned for displaying those text. Anymore opinions?

hardly anyone is clicking on the ads on my forum.

Let's see, it's a forum, they come to chat.

If you want to get people clicking put up a companion site with content.

Regarding the ad-financed text, if you do it, and you get booted from AdSense, please don't open a thread about it.

It's not worth it. If google finds ANY incentive or request to click ads on your site - possibly on a page that doesn't even contain adsense ads, then they could well boot you. And as Incredibill says, if that happens please don't start yet another thread!

Clearly you understand that it's dodgy to add the incentive to your site. The fact that other forums have this wording on doesn't mean that they are allowed to, and it's likely that at some point they will get found out and booted.

Forums seem to have a low return. It might be better to have ads elsewhere on your site instead. It might be worth trying one of the fourpence ha'penny for 1000 page impression type services on the forum page.
