Adsense & Meta Refresh

Does Google punish for use of Meta Refresh to keep a page's content fresh?

I run an active forum where messages are posted every few minutes. I have considered using the meta refresh tag to automatically refresh the page every 2 minutes, however I'm unsure of where I stand in Google's eyes with regards to this automation. I've had a quick skim through the T&Cs but can't find anything that indicates whether I am allowed to do this or not.

Can anybody shed any light on this area?

Yes, Google will punish you.

You'll most likely be sent to your room and won't be allowed out until dinner time.

Bad boy.

Dig around in the T&C and the Policies and see if you can find something about inflating impression counts.

Seems to me that's where you might find meta refreshes prohibited.

At least Google and other search engines will probably punish you

Yes, it is considered inflating your impression count and definitely against the terms.

Well, I have a page that has to reload for technical reasons every minute. I asked Adsense support if it's okay and didn't get any answer. So far I did take this as an okay.

I'm not sure I would take "no response" as "permission".

Seems like an unnecessary risk.

Might be worth another email to them to follow up (and a double check of your spam filters just in case their replies are getting filtered).

Thanks everybody. If in doubt, leave it out!

If I could just get the hang of the XMLHTTPRequest, perhaps I could dynamically reload only sections of my page- i.e. the thread listing, leaving the ads static. I'm loath to go down the frames or iframes route. Maybe this feature is not as important as I initially thought.

This question is not quite so disposable as it may seem!

I have considered using the meta refresh tag to automatically refresh the page every 2 minutes

I have not asked Google however I have noticed an increasing offer/facility from some ISPs to actually automate this feature so that visitors automatically have the latest information available to them.

This then begs the question:

How could a site owner/webmaster be penalised for something not of their own doing?

Another question?

What is the difference between a meta refresh with new information compared to webmaster uploaded new web site information?

None that I know which could be proven!

Clarification is obviously required if at all possible.
