The URL they're attempting to hit is:
mysite.com/about/mysite/ads.htm)
This is, indeed, a real page that discusses why I have ads on my site (with no incenting!) -- EXCEPT for the ending parenthesis. So the person (or whatever automated process is doing this) keeps getting a 404.
I'm wondering two things:
1) Whether I should do a rewrite to forward hits from the erroneous URL to the correct one.
2) What's going on.
Any insight?
- it doesn't help me understand WHY they're looking at my site (I've been an AdSense publisher for months now)
- it doesn't explain why they are repeatedly hitting a valid URL with a parenthesis tacked on
- it doesn't suggest to me what I should do
I'm a bit concerned because my revenues were about 30% higher than usual yesterday and my CTR was more than double the usual value, so I'm worried that they may suspect fraud. :¦
