Renaming URL Channels

Is it possible?

Is renaming URL channels possible?

I have URLs that I'd like to begin tracking, but I can't because I've reached my limit.

Too bad we can't delete custom channels, but at least we can recycle them for other uses by renaming them.

With URL channels, on the other hand, there appears to be no option for "renaming" or deleting them, freeing up a slot for a different URL. (Deactivating them doesn't help.)

Am I missing something? Any suggestions?

[Sigh. No responses.] It seems, then, that once assigning them, there are no possibilities for reusing or recycling (or deleting) URL channels.

So, I have all these other URLs I'd like to track, but I can't because I've exhausted my allotment.

Words to the wise: Be very careful before committing URL channels. Assign to your most important sites/directories/pages only. Think long-term. Plan ahead.

You can disable a channel. The limit is 100 active channels, not 100 total channels. I know adsense users who use channels for seasonal activities (christmas sales etc) and disable them during the rest of the year.

In my situation I have 39 channels, of which 22 are active. At the top of the screen there is a line telling me that there is room left for 78 new channels. 22 + 78 = 100. So I am sure when you disable one or more unused channels you can add new ones.

There is a good reason that you cannot delete channels because they are the handle for historical data. Deleting a channel will make the historical data unavailable.

Right you are. I deactivated some no longer needed URL channels, freeing up some slots. After creating new ones, across URL and custom channels, I'm all maxed out. :-)

I understand and accept that. As I am interested in current data-and-analysis as a guide to future action, I don't care much about long-term historical data. I can just as easily keep long-term historical data (i.e., from before the current analytical period) in a spreadsheet.

Thanks, lammert!
