In my (italian) site since this morning there are quite a few ads for the Google Toolbar.

They are not PSAs: you have 2 ads in the ads block, one is a normal ad and the other is the toolbar ad.

I wonder if I get something for the clicks on that ad.

Anyway, I quite don't like the multiple role that G has in this, especially with its usual lack of transparency...

I mean, it's probably paranoia, but can I be sure the pricing of those ads will be fair (i.e. smart pricing?)

I am not even sure if they are anomalous PSAa or real ads....

It's just a tiny aspect of the matter, but Google must start to have a generally clearer behaviour with its publishers..

Well, if you read the new, improved TOS, you'll see that you don't get paid for ads for G products.

Check section 11.d.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, Google shall not be liable for any payment based on ... Google advertisements for its own products and/or services

Ouch. Can we ad google to our filters?

Google probably feels that the "Ads by Google" box is its space, and that if there aren't enough ads to fill the space, it might as well plug the toolbar and other services. That isn't an unreasonable attitude (after all, the toolbar ads aren't replacing paid ads). However, an "Advertise here!" ad might be more useful from the publisher's point of view.

Actually, I have confirmed with Google that the ads you see advertising Google services (Adwords, AdSense, toolbar, etc) that these ARE paid links, you WILL earn money if someone clicks on any of the Google services ads.

Jenstar, I remember you posting that previously. But how can that be reconciled with the T&C's? I was recalling that you had posted earlier that they were paid clicks, and was thinking this was a T&Cs change, but it doesn't appear to be (at least not this round).

Perhaps instead of blocking Google you should block everyone but Google and then when there are only Google ads showing then you can see if you still get paid.

The wording was already in the terms when they started to run the Google services ad, which was why I asked specifically Google about it at the time. And I got confirmation from two different people at Google about it as well, so I am 100% confident that if someone clicks on one of those ads on your page, you will make money from it.

Does that mean the different teams at Google are bidding against each other for ads? :-)
