When I checked my stats Today, I was shocked to find that My CTR is 2 times to my average CTR. Should I inform Google about this? I want to check my logs to find any abnormol things. I am a novice in that. Can any one help me in analysing the logs to find any abnormal things. Thanks in advance.

I can see that ads are more targeted today. That might be the reason. But to be on safer side, can any one tell me how to analyse my log files to find any abnormal things.

Glad to see this thread. I came here to see if anyone was having this issue. Mine is double too.

Perhaps they did a click dump today.

This whole month targeting is absolutely fantastic. Lower paying ads but with much better CTR.

Something's happening, I haven't seen CTR's like this since January/beginning February.

Long may it continue:-)

Hmm. Thought something was up and was worried a little. I saw a big increase in CTR (almost double), was worried, but I also have to admit the targetting has been exceptional on some parts of my site. I mean the best ever. Hmmm. Maybe, I'll wait before I panic. It's nice to see we are in the same boat. Now which is it?
(a) Click bot.
(b) Better targeting
(c) Click dump.

Right now I'm for (b) because I have seen a change in ads.

Some AdWords advertisers have been getting content clicks when this option was turned off.

I seem to be getting click dumps on wednesdays or Thursdays, most every week.
whoops,
Got one today. Only about $10, but enough to supersize my stats for the day.

I'd be more concerned if when you look at your stats individual pages or channels seem to have an unusually high number of clicks as if kids or whoever has just been clicking away.

Yeah, my targeting is great today - on my main page I reduced to one Google ad unit with 2 ads and now I get one ad for "Airbus Financial Performance Reports for Aerospace Executives".

Just great...

See [webmasterworld.com...] for one way to address this question.

What everybody should really, really keep in mind when looking at Adsense stats during the day is that not all of the stats are updated at the same time. No determination of CTR being up or down can be made at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., etc.

What looks like a big increase in CTR might simply be that the page impressions haven't as yet updated. Similarly, a drop in CTR might mean clicks haven't updated.

Best bet for trends is full-day stats, anything else is mostly unreliable and essentially meaningless.

(Now if everybody can come back tomorrow and confirm a substantially higher CTR for today that just might be significant.)

Hi jimbeetle,

What looks like a big increase in CTR might simply be that the page impressions haven't as yet updated. Similarly, a drop in CTR might mean clicks haven't updated.

This is not what I have observed (although I can't say that I have paid close attention to it). I find that when I update the AdSense report screen, I see the impressions and the click-through figures either both change, or neither change. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that they are in sync -- the impression figures could have updated to 10 minutes ago while the click-through figures updated to 20 minutes ago. I really don't know, but I have no reason to believe that happens.

I am seeing a huge increase in EPC and CTR but traffic has also increased significantly. The CTR is not quite double but it is definately higher. But then I watch my logs and try to write articles related to what people are searching for which does seem to bring in more people that click a lot.

You may see impressions and clicks both update, but that doesn't mean that the clicks aren't lagging the impressions, or vice versa.

And as has been posted in the past, some clicks occasionally seem to be held over to the following day...

If I notified Google every time my ad revenue shot up they'd cancel my account just for annoying them.

Up 2x enjoy the ride
Up 5x or more notify Google

Now that would be ironic ;)

I have also an unusual high CTR. Special in the time between 15 and 23 pm Google time when the Europeans sleep and my visitors are mainly on my english sites from US, the CTR was nearly double the normal.

Also the CTR of my German sites increased, but not so much.

Just nearly, less than 1% missing, a new highest ever. But it was a Friday! Shure it was the highest ever Friday in the statistic.

My CTR's been about double for about a week now, but my earnings have dropped by half. It's all very nice that Google's serving better-targeted ads, but could I have the old sloppy algorithm back, please?

Wow, this week has been amazing, if this CTR and CPM keeps up I might make the UPS club before July!
