How to see which ads are being clicked

Until yesterday, I had no idea which google ads were being clicked on my site. Now I have tracking!

I got fed up with my hosting company's stats, which fail on a regular basis, so I added one of those free statistics services to my site yesterday.

The service is addfreestats, which requires me to place a little icon on my page. The stats I'm getting are more detailed than the ones I got from my hosting company, and they tell me which pages my users exited through, and there's an icon that appears next to every exit page that resulted from an adsense ad being clicked.

I still don't know how much each ad pays, but I can monitor which ones are being clicked.

Nice advertsement.

I always avoid those off-server stat things because a lot of users disable cookies from external servers which screws the stats.

As long as you have access to your servers log files (which all decent hosts will provide, even shared hosts). you can run a proper statistics program.

I use the opensource statistics report generator AWStats (http://awstats.sourceforge.net) which produces reliable and comprehensive statistics.
