Has there been any studies done that show which color combinations attract more clicks? How about your experience with colors? Care to share?

I've been running a bit of a test with this for the last couple of weeks. Through server side code, I randomly select whether to display an ad with the link color set to the same as the other links on the page (kind of reddish), or an ad with the default bright blue link color. It's a blog-like site, with a 300x250 ad block set in the middle of the main content column.

What I've seen on this site, is that the click-through rates are pretty much identical, but for some reason the CPM of the red-link ad is about 50% higher. I'm not sure why or how that's occurring, but it's definitely there. I'm going to run some more tests like this on some other sites, and see if the results are similar.

I get a better CTR if the 'title' color link is the identical color as other internal site links. The CTR has just about doubled since making them match.

Oops, in my above post, I should have said, that in one case the title and link are the same color as the links on the rest of the page, and in the other variation the the title is standard blue and the links are standard green.
