What's Happened to Adsense

Only showing one Adsense Block per page

Can someone please explain why only one Adsense block is appearing on my websites?

I have 2 websites - one about finance products and the other about mobile phones. However for some reason for the last week or so, only one adsense block is being displayed per page. This is on every page on both sites. I know that there are enough ads because the ads that do appear are constantly changing to different but similar offers?

This is the first time in 10 months I've had this problem. And with most pages only showing one adsense block instead of my normal two, I'm seeing poor results and my websites look 'unfinished'.

Is anyone else experience this problem?

Do you mean it's showing PSAs or the ad unit simply doesn't appear?

It seems to vary from page-to-page for me. Some pages will show the two blocks of ads, other pages will only show the first block, the second one is just a BLANK area (not even a PSA). I have double-checked the code and it is fine.

If anyone can figure out why this happens, please advise.

Double check your code just to be certain it isn't a mistake in that. I have cut off part of the code in the past when hurridly copying and pasting to a webpage.

I have the exact same problem. On some (too many) pages, the first ad block shows, the second doesn't--not even PSAs, just empty space.

These are on targeted, content-rich pages with sufficient potential ads to fill both ad blocks. I know this, because before I had four-ad skyscrapers that were *always* filled--never anything less than four ads, never a PSA.

This is not a coding mistake. I have a Perl script that generates identical HTML code for each ad block. I also use templates to generate my pages. All pages check cleanly as valid HTML code.

Aggravating!

Nope, I've checked the code on at least 30 pages and their fine. Plus the Ads used to appear and as I haven't changed most of the pages in months, it can't be the code. Its as if Adsense are limiting the number of Ads that are being displayed on my websites.

I've now even allowed filtered sites like ebay.com and rival website urls back into my adds to try and fill out my 2 adsense blocks. I've also changed the 2nd block on my index pages to a small square '1 add' block but that was hours ago and still nothing.

Allthough CTR picked up today, my webpages still seem a 3rd empty now, both websites look very odd. Fortunately, I used the background colour of my page so that it's not full of PSAs - although I doubt even they will show!

This is really bizarre.

Before, my pages have a single 4-ad skyscraper in the right sidebar, and *on every page* four ads *always* show.

I switch to specifying two 2-ad ad units, one at the top of my page content, the other at the bottom. The first ad unit invariably shows, the second sometimes fails to show.

On a test page, I try replacing the bottom 2-ad banner with a 1-ad half banner. The bottom 1-ad half banner fails to show.

I then try a 1-ad half banner at the top, a 1-ad half banner at the bottom. The bottom 1-ad half banner fails to show.

So, in this test page's current configuration, I see just a single advertisement--the 1-ad half banner--at the top of my page.

In every configuration I try for this page, I can only get the first ad unit to show, never the second.

I know that there are sufficient ads in the Google inventory to show four ads on this page. Before, four ads would always show. Ten minutes ago, two ads were showing (in the page-top 2-ad banner). Now, just one ad shows (in the page-top 1-ad banner; the page-bottom banner is blank).

I have some pages where both ad units show. On other pages, the first shows, the second doesn't.

The first and second ad unit HTML code is in all cases identical.

The pages check as valid HTML.

No HTML fanciness, no frames, just straightforward HTML with tables (and not excessively nested).

Pages with this problem are focused and content-rich.

No SEO tricks.

What gives? Why (on some pages) does the second ad unit fail to display any ads?

It can be soooooooo frustrating working with Goooooooogle sometimes!

I'd write to google support. This sounds like some sort of glitch in thier system.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one seeing this problem. I just started doing Adsense last week and am not very familiar with the system and just assumed that I must be doing something stupid. Every time I tried to put a second box on a page it never showed up. The first ad box would show but the second one just had a blank space there. No PSA at all. I just assumed that Google only allowed one box per page. I hope that someone can determine what is going on.

I've just totally given up on the whole multiple ad unit thing. What a waste of time it's been trying to get it to work consistently if at all.

So for me now it's just four-ad banners or skyscrapers, one per page.
