What does everyone think?
You see two lines for each month:
One is for the day your payment is sent for the previous month's earnings, shown with a ($) around the figure.
The second is for the total earnings for that month, showing with the date of the last day of the month.
You can click on each for further details.
The thing that caught my eye the most is the "Payment Type: Check" when you click the payment details. Might just be a sign of future payment options to come ;)

It might be a rollout release, where it takes a few hours for it to show up in everyone's account.
Over the next few weeks, we'll be rolling out an updated Payment History page to our publishers. Look for a cleaner page that provides a quick snapshot of payment and earnings information - for detailed invoices, click the Earnings line item for any month. Monthly invoices will include earnings and adjustment information for your AdSense for content and/or AdSense for search account. Rest assured that your earnings will not be affected in any way.

Last time something got rolled out in the accounts, I was one of the last in the group to see the changes. I must have been in the right group this time ;)

Made me smile at the mix of languages on mine
Payment Type: Check
Cheque Date: 25-Jan-2005
You would think one of those PhD's could speak the Queens English ;)
Interestingly, it is no longer showing the January earnings payment as approved, the last entry is for the last day of January for the monthly earnings.
hehe...so you noticed that too. So we will no longer know when they cut the check or maybe it will show back up.

I would much rather see implementation of any of the substantive feature requests discussed on this forum than these UI twiddles.
Then again maybe they just don't need to tell us when it is approved...the check date should be good enough. It could be in preparation for the different payment methods..(she grins from ear to ear).
Personally whatever they do is alright, they give more information about the actual "payment" than most affiliate programs. Usually it just shows up in the mail!
