Channel Data and Aggregate Data out-of-sync

I just noticed that for the months Dec 2004, Jan 2005, and the current month Feb 2005, the "Channel Data" report totals and "Aggregate Data" report totals are different. The "Channel Data" reports are much higher.

For example, the "Channel Data" report totals for December 2004 are 10% higher. The "Channel Data" report totals for January 2005 are 14% higher. (Note that the check for December is already paid out.) For February 2005 there's a difference as well, but since this is the current month, the amounts may not be definitive.

I've emailed support about this issue, but like to know if more people have similar experiences.

If there's a bug in the reports, this might explain why some people report a sudden fall in clicks and earnings.

Any input is appreciated.

I noticed this to start with, but in my case I have two separate domains that I track. What the page seemed to do was add up all the channels you select, then add up the totals for any domains you select and add the two together giving you a nice, big, innacurate number. If you check the domains and uncheck the rest, they add up to the corresponding days on the aggregate report - same with adding the individual channels.

Don't forget there have been a couple of clickdumps in the last few days, so if you have typed this months details into a spreadsheet, the totals will possibly be wrong.

Well, never mind, I found the problem (while taking a hot shower).

Since Dec 2004, there's a slight overlap in my URL channels and Custom channels. As a result, some clicks and earnings were counted twice.

Sorry for the confusion ;-)

Wow, you do Internet even while taking a shower!? :)

I get all my best web site ideas while taking a shower. Maybe something to do with relaxation...

In any case, I got stung by the same thing, thought I was going crazy, then realized I was double-counting a url channel and a custom channel.

However, I have noticed that my url channel and custom channel counts for the same site aren't quite matching up...

I think this might be due to visits to www.example.com vs just example.com, if your channel url states www.example.com then those who come to example.com aren't counted in channel data. (But I could be wrong.)
