I can see the same thing happening today - also, when i enter my page, i cant see any ads anymore (it used to be full Google Ad window of it, or at least 2-3)
now its 0 (i suppose my earnings are not 0 becouse some people click at ads on my other pages) but the main page was my profit-maker.
Now since i heard about this problem i thought everything will solve itself in a day, but now its second day and its even worse - now its like 80-85% drop comparing 2 days ago, and i have NO idea why.
code is ok, content is like it was, but no money at all. :( Any ideas?
Today's performance is all over the place therefore I'm just going to sit it out for a few days since we have seen a very strong performance during February.
Maybe it's going to back to "normal"?
Same drop here and some observations:
1) I have a significant change of advertisers on my sites, and I know they are lower bidders than the previous group before the drop. Check the advertisers on your site and compare to previous.
2) A high bid AdWords term is now at 50% of what it was last month. Obviously, I will see a big drop in payout. Check the bid terms your site is targeting and compare to previous.
For my target terms it appears that a change to lower dollar advertisers and lower bids for main keywords is the cause for the big drop in revenue.
My best guess is that it is related to the recent Google update. This typically happens when there is an algo change, and lasts for about a week or two.
In the past (this is not a new phenomenon), I have found that things normalize again after a certain period of time.
The algo update usually results in erratic ad serving for a while, which leads to lower epc because ads are not well targeted. Again, this usually tends to correct itself as the system "learns" what ads to serve on your site.
I have actually found that things are getting back to normal for me now, and ads are once again better targeted. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that Google is shortchanging people by offering less payouts. That is not the way Google does business.
There are also a large number of factors beyond Google's control that affect your epc. It is a supply and demand market after all, and advertisers are often times inclined to lower their bids, pull their ads, opt out of contextual advertising, etc.
People are too quick to conclude that Google is lowering payouts. Until I hear from Google or another reliable source that they have adjusted their payouts to publishers, I am going to assume that payouts remain the same.
Just be patient, chances are things will be back to normal soon ;-)
The website is not listed in Google (we recently changed the domain name), but Adsense seems to have no problem serving up relevant ads.
