Hello Everyone

I am sure that this has been discussed in the past. I am wondering if you apply for the Google adsense program, does it help with improving on your search engine rankings, particularly Google seach engine?

Here is my thoughts on this subject. Seeing that customers are paying good money on google adwords, it would seem to think that google will do everything necessary to help with the visibility of these ads.

Therefore a website that is displaying Google adsense should get better overall rankings, right?

Is this line of thinking correct? Or am I way off?

Please Advise.

Thanks!

No. You need to consider several things:

1) Google is a company that lives or dies by its core product: search. If it compromises its search algorithm to favor pages that run AdSense, it risks losing its audience and (ultimately) its revenues.

2) Google's corporate culture wouldn't permit such manipulation. (You can be sure that, if the search team was being told to corrupt the results, we'd soon hear about it.)

3) In big companies (and in big government, for that matter), it can be very hard to enforce unpopular dictates from on high. Just getting different corporate factions to cooperate with each other (or even to talk with each other) can be a challenge. It's pretty obvious, for example, that the Google search team wasn't consulted by the AdSense team when AdSense was launched with practically no quality controls, thereby opening the door to a flood of "made for AdSense" scraper sites that made the Google search team's job much more difficult.
