My question is My sites have been up for a month or so.
I wanted to know if someone clicks on the ads and dont by anything. Will google take the money back or how does it work.

How should somebody controll this?

When a restaurant makes ads on my site, do You think the waiter asks every guest

"From what ad did You come?"

idodpendo :

There are places that works almost what you're saying, it is called pay per perfomance.

In Google, it is pay per click.

You either pay (as an advertiser) or get paid (as a publisher) for each click, regardless of any prior action in the target site. Even if the customer close the window the first second, the click is accounted.

Google does not keep track of this so there is no way for them to know. Your fine.

I made also web sites for an interior designer.

He is perfect happy when 1 from 30.000 visitors
gives him a contract

He probably wouldn't be quite so happy if he'd paid a click fee to Google for each of those other 29,999 visitors. :-)

[ He probably wouldn't be quite so happy if he'd paid a click fee to Google for each of those other 29,999 visitors. :-) ]

I had first a 5% provision agreement with him.

But since all people referred from the web site had a deadly car accident or developt a very time consuming difficult law case, I changed him to
2 Cent per visitor to a web page with external referer.

At this rate, one contract costs him 600.-EUR

End of 2000, he burned 5000.-EUR in print media advertising without any success, so he is perfect happy with this rate.
