Can creating new channels cause a drop in revenue?

We recently did a pretty extensive update, and created new channels to more specifically track our different topics. Can this temporarily hurt you overall AdSense earnings? It seems to be in our case -

Creating channels itself won't affect your income.

But, depending on what you mean by... "a pretty extensive update", that could be the problem.

I don't know about channels, however last week I moved my sites on to a new server and (without getting into actual numbers) since the move I have gone from earning $200 a day to $22 a day.

I really don't understand it, nothing changed, same domain names, same sites lot lower earnings. :(

That is a massive drop. I assume your rankings, and thus traffic, dropped?

my ranking went from a 6 or 10 to a 5 of 10. Very odd. Let's hope it improves more soon.

I realized when I wrote the question that my "update" was going to be the question - but it was just a look and feel thing - the pages all stayed the same as far as content, titles, file names etc. and the Google ads also stayed in the same place, with the same colors, etc. Maybe I just had a great few weeks in January (we did - best month ever with adsense in 16 months) and this is just a little more back to normal. We are still above last year's CPM and click through rate - maybe I was just getting spoiled...
