Having created a new niche business directory for the german market and having filled it with 300 entries, I decided to integrate a fulltext search using a phpdig-based search engine that crawls and indexes all the sites listed in the directory (40k pages indexed). While placing Adsense on the directory pages themselves does not constitute a problem, I wonder whether it would be a good idea to place it as well on the phpdig SERPs, as some other german "search engines" spamming the G index with their SERPs are doing this as well? Or will I have to look for another PPC program?

This is a very good question. If someone does not answer it ask google at adsense-support@google.com

Google has a very good answer in their webmaster quality guidelines. Ask yourself the question

Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?

If the answer is yes, go ahead with it.

It all comes to added value to the customer. I personaly would not really be interested in preformatted SERPS on keyword combinations that you came up with, when I could get the same result, or better by typing my own set of keywords about the same subject at Google, Yahoo! or MSN directly.
