Google Stock Sale Ads on Cached Pages

Anyone else notice this?

I was doing some Google searching for my own pages to see if Google had indexed the new content I had added yet. I was clicking on the "cached" link to see the difference between what they had and what was live on my pages.

I noticed that in many many cases, the "cached" version of my pages showed AdSense ads for buying Google stock, while my "live" pages showed the usual on-topic ads.

Anybody else seen this?

Minor correction, for about the last week ads have been significantly more "loosely themed" than the usual highly relevant ads. I believe I saw a similar post in another thread here. I hope they go back to the old targeting algo, it's affecting revenues downwards.

Thanks.

Because the cache version of the page is a different URL (a Google IP to be exact), they will show different ads, usually PSAs. They might have it set up to show Google related ads on the Google IP cache pages, if it doesn't have it indexed already to show targeted ads.

Chances are the "cached" page is not indexed by Mediabot...seeing how it's on a Google URL, "Google stock for sale" may seem to the AnSense algorithm to be the most relevant ad for the page based on what little it knows about the page.

Makes sense to me.

You can “take advantage” of this situation by using an alternate ad which will show on the cache version of your page instead of the PSA.
