Multi-Day Stats Lag

I've read Macro's excellent "AdSense Notes", and I'm left wondering if Google is withholding clicks/earnings that will be credited later on. I can understand waiting for the close of the day, but leaving an ad configuration in place day after day, wondering if Google is going to add to the pot makes things very difficult. Orders are down and I don't know if AdSense is compensating or not. Is there any way to tell if Google might be holding out past the close of the day? Do you have to have a certain amount of traffic before it will happen? Is it common or rare?

I have a pretty low traffic site and I think I've see withheld impressions/clicks, but they seem to be put in the next day's stats.

If I were evaluating a new layout or color or whatever, I'd want a week's worth of numbers, at least--unless your weekend and weekday traffic and visitor behavior is unusually similar.
