Google (Adsense) search and referer lists/links

On pages and in referer logs - would this count as pre-filled?

I'm thinking about putting a list of referers on my home page. Sometimes these are links back to the originating sites (web pages, message boards) and sometimes they're links back to search results. What I've started noticing today is that some of the referers shown are links to my Google/Adsense search (the one that pays you for clicks under the Adsense program) and that the link itself causes a pre-filled search to be displayed.

I'm assuming Google will consider this a "pre-filled search" which isn't allowed (or, at least, wasn't allowed the last time I read the TOS). Comments? I can easily filter it out.

Of course this brings up a related question -- websites that have their logs public -- if the referers in their list perform a similar function to what I've described above, aren't they in danger of getting in trouble with Adsense because they technically but unwittingly have pre-filled search links on their "site" (albeit, on their stats page).

The adsense referrers are the least of your worries. It'll very soon be filled with referrer spam (fake referring urls) from extremely dubious sites. Would be just like adding a "free links" page on your home page.

Big trouble with this. Referer spam, and just links to bad neighborhoods. Why would you jeopardize your SE reputation like this?

Because it's good for search engines. They see the terms people are searching for on the home page consistiently and the ranking for those terms increases as more people arrive at the site for those terms.

That seems to answer your question then. Why not parse out just the keywords from the search engine referrals? Or just include the search engine referring URLs, not other ones? And with the latter, you still need to be careful about spam, since someone can still send fake referers.
