Which type of Ad format with most success

Hi all,

I'm trying a variety of ad styles/page layouts with my pages.

Can anyone please comment on what their success have been with their ad/page-layouts?

In particular, how has an inline ad worked versus the long skyscraper adds?

It varies from site to site.

It's best to do your own testing to find out what works best for your particular site and layout.

Experiment. Use channels. Run a few tests and let them go for a few days. You can't usually get a good feel for how well an ad placement will work in a few hours, or a day. Be patient and let the data speak for itself.

That said, I prefer the large rectangle ads and box ads. They seem to perform the best on my site when integrated closely with the content.

Don't forget to look at the bigger picture. Just how intrusive are you willing to make Google's ads? For example, will inline rectangles detract from the reader experience? Will they make your affiliate links less visible? And can you implement them (or remove them) easily and quickly?

max, Do you float your ads to the right? It seems like people would be more likely to notice them to the right but am not sure.

I have decided to try rectangular ads in one section of one of my sites to see what happens. I am making no borders and am using a background that blends. It just looks less intrusive that way and I don't think anyone is going to miss the fact they are ads. Their spacing, font side and all are quite different. I've also put a good margin around them.

It will be interesting to see if the new shape and position will make any difference. Most of my ads are presently towers in the left column.
