Banner ads breaking AdSense TOS.

I'd hate to lose my Adsense account over this.

I run AdSense on most of my site's pages. I also run banner ads from Burst or FastClick. Every once in a while I find that one of the Burst or FastClick banner ad campaigns I have chosen to participate in is actually running Adsense style text ads in their banners. This seems to be an infraction of the Adsense TOS so as quickly as I find this conflict I opt out of participation in the banner ad campaign.

You would think it would be easy enough to preview the banner campaigns but at times Burst and FastClick don't display a banner in the preview location where they are supposed to. I have found it quite easy to mistakenly opt into an Adsense offending campaign. I'd be devastated if I lost my Adsense income in exchange for the paltry income from a single FastClick or Burst banner campaign.

I've found that Burst's "Bright Ads" banner campaigns contain text ads and therefore seemingly break the Adsense TOS. Has anyone else come across other offending campaigns from other advertisers or advertising services and would you name them so I can watch out for and opt out of them too?

Other text ads and banners are ok. They just can't be contextually served. It's not so much what they look like but how they get there.

Meaning, it's ok if they are static or random ads that are text but they cannot use the same type of program like Adsense which serves a SPECIFIC ad based on SPECIFIC on-page text.

You better be sure because I don't think that's true and I'd hate to see someone get booted. I have gotten a TOS violation e-mail for serving up a fastclick bidkliks banner. Google was very patient in sorting it out to their credit because I could never find it AND at the time I never realized bidkliks was a contextual ad since fastclick didn't let you preview those particular banners.

Burst lets you opt out of contextual ads after a number of advertiserds requested it (bravo for Burst!)

In short, I don't think you can because of my experience but I am not Google.

Be sure of what? That you can have banners or ads on the same page as adsense? Of course I'm sure you can. You just can't have contextual ads like Adsense. Just like you said you weren't supposed to have on your site. Ahem, and you're telling ME to be sure?

Now, it's up to Broadway to make sure his banner or ad program isn't contextual the same way it was up to you.

TNJed,
I was referring to this.

Every once in a while I find that one of the Burst or FastClick banner ad campaigns I have chosen to participate in is actually running Adsense style text ads in their banners.

Of course, you can run other banner ads. Just make sure they are not the contextual ads. I let fastclick slip some in for exactly this reason:

You would think it would be easy enough to preview the banner campaigns but at times Burst and FastClick don't display a banner in the preview location where they are supposed to

I'm not sure that you read his concern. His concern was that Burst and Fastclick sometimes DO slip in contextual ads and it IS a TOS violation. Burst lets you opt out of contextual ads so there is no problem there. Fastclick didn't let you opt out when I was using them (which is one reason I stopped using them because I didn't want them to slip another one before I could unselect it).
