Updating website affects adsense earnings (or not?)

Hi if the website is not updated for say 5 days? Does the mediapartner bot sense that and starts reducing ads displayed on the site? Or is it totally dependent on users visiting the site? (users visiting the site would obviously go down if site is not updated..)
