what is the best choice?

Am I correct in thinking that adsense search has the option of "the web" or "this site". If so, how does the "internal" search compare to others. Has anyone had better results from one of the others (although I suppose that on an adsense forum its unlikely that anyone will admit to that) ?

Has anyone got adsense search only for external links and another for internal?

There are only two ways to set it up that I'm aware of.

One searches the web only - the search is just on google. I prefer this one on sites that don't have their internal pages well indexed by google.

The other shows two radio buttons, one for the web and the other for your site. The button for your site is set by default, but the person searching can switch it to search the web instead.

I'm using both varieties depending on how well google has the particular site indexed. I replaced Atomz search with the 'this site' variety when one particular site got too big (over 500 pages) to use the free version of Atomz.

I, for a while, had ht://dig for internal search, and some pages with a Google search box for searching the web. Internal search proved popular, Google search did not. Internal search, with a single half-banner, produced appreciable user interest in the ads. Google search, with its ads which (IMHO) often overwhelm search results, did not. I ultimately dropped the Google search box.

Correction - that should read "a single '468 x 60' banner", as opposed to a half-banner.
