Can I use IntelliTXT from Vibrant Media (such contextual links in the text, not on banners) in combination with AdSense on the same pages?

On various pages in the same website?

Not on the same pages. However, you can use IntelliTXT on pages that don't have AdSense ads, if you don't mind annoying users. :-)

Maybe it depends on the type of content. I find it very annoying in editorial body text, because the ToolTip-style text ads don't disappear instantly when you move the cursor. The slight lag is just enough to interfere with reading of the body text.

This is not a direct criticism of the IntelliTXT program but unfortunately, it looks like adware/spyware.

About six months ago I went to an IntelliTXT example page to see what it looked like. As the page downloaded I realised with horror that I must have picked up some AdWare.

Then I realised that the double-underlined links were IntelliTXT.

It wouldn't be so off-putting if AdWare networks hadn't started using the same technique about 12 months before.

I suppose IntelliTXT can go along with AdSense. Both of them are working on same pages in a technology experts site.
Jenstar, could you pls clarify this?

Thanks.

I've seen both together on many sites, so I don't think there's anything in the ToS against it (but I'm sure Jenstar will be able to answer this with certainty).

As for intelliTxt, I'm not a fan & block it by default.

Isn't Firefox's Adblock GREAT! :)

The AdSense program policies explicitly state:

"We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services....If you have elected to receive content-based Google ads, this would also include all other content-targeted ads."

Seems pretty clear to me.

I have already queried G about whether it can be run in a page together with Adsense, and they told me "NO."

But I do see pages running them both simultaneously, and dropped G a line from this third party site's feedback on the Adsense ads. Checked a few weeks later and the page is no longer running Intellxt. Maybe they removed it after G pointed it out to them. Who knows?

Read your intellitext TOS as well. It is against THEIR TOS (at least it is on my contract) not just adsense.
