I'd like to be able to just delete the channels that are inactive. I have no desire to save them and they are just in the way. Plus I'm not sure but it looks like they are counting in my 50 0r 60 limit.

Interesting, it doesn't appear you can delete them. However, you can have more that 60 total channels, but you can only have 60 active channels at a time. (ie. 100 total channels, with 60 active and 40 inactive).

That's good that my inactivated channels don't count toward my total. I do wish I could delete them though. I'd just like to get rid of the clutter.

You could rename them to start with "z" to at least get them to the bottom of the list.

Is there any way that channels go inactive other than me setting them that way via the menu? I have two channels that just suddenly started popping up as inactive (at different times) and I KNOW I didn't do it.
Also if you dectivate a channel that is listed in G code for an ad unit (or in this case have them mysteriously pop up in the inactive list on their own), what happens to those impressions, clicks and earnings? Are they still awarded and counted toward your total?

How you use or don't use channels does not affect your earnings in any way. Your aggregate totals will always reflect your total earnings.

I haven't heard of channels mysteriously activating or inactivating themselves though.

I posted this in the new URL channels feature thread, but wanted to post the information here as well, about why inactive channels are not able to be deleted.

If you need to refer to data in those channels at a later date, it would not be accessible in the future if they were deleted. For example, you decide to track Christmas-themed pages over the months of November and December with multiple channels. If you deleted those channels, you would be unable to refer to those channel stats at a later date (say, next October when you are pushing those holiday themed pages again and wanted to see what performed the best for you). So I can see why they can go inactive but are not deletable.

<added>What are you finding cluttered? Having them at the bottom of the custom channel list on the report page? I know if you are quickly trying to select all channels to view the channel stats of all the channels at once, you need to find the end of the active, or else you are adding all the inactive into the report as well (although they do not show up in the actual report, since there are no stats for the inactive channels). Or having to sort through them in the channel control panel area as you activate and inactivate specific channels?

Question: If a channel is deactivated, is it necessary to change the Google AdSense code? Or can the code be left in place on the pages. Much thanks for your help.

I like the z idea for channels I know I'll never use again. Thanks
